Newly Appointed Director General For GES Tours Greater Accra Region With His Team

Newly Appointed Director General For GES Tours Greater Accra Region.
The appointment of Dr. Eric Nkansah as the new director of Ghana Education Service has encountered a series of controversies from the various teacher unions. Some of the teacher associations do not agree with the appointment of Dr. Eric Nkansah to be their leader.
It is not far fetching that all the teacher unions under Ghana Education Service went on strike on this basis. All efforts to get the new Director out of office did not yield the needed results as the teacher unions desired.
Currently, Dr. Eric Nkansah is acting as the Director General for Ghana Education Service. He has begun to take on some of the responsibilities that lie on his shoulders. In a recent post, we spotted Dr. Eric Nkansah as he tours the Greater Accra Region of Ghana. The mission of the acting Director General for the Ghana Education Service is the developmental Goal of school monitoring.
This is a good initiative from the new director. Ghanaians want to see an improvement in the standards of education across the country. The measure must be put in place to make sure the relevant textbooks are provided to the teachers and the learners on a timely basis. Both teacher and student discipline must be enforced at all levels of the educational system. Again, adequate emolument should be provided for various teacher unions to motivate them to implement the content of the curriculum across the various educational levels that we have in the country
The Acting Director-General of GES, Dr. Eric Nkansah visited some schools within the Korle Klottey Municipal in the Greater Accra Region and Oforikrom Municipal in Ashanti Region on 5th and 9th December 2022.
The visit forms part of the DG’s school monitoring of the ongoing National Standardized Test (NST).
The schools visited were:
1. Osu Presbyterian Boys Primary School
2. St. Thomas KG/Primary, Osu
3. Ayigya M/A Basic School
4. Sacred Heart R/C Primary, Ayigya
He also met and interacted with the primary and Junior High School teachers of the schools.
The results of the National Standardized Test (NST) will generate data at the national level and identify the learning gaps that need to be addressed.
In addition, the NST will provide data to identify and analyze variations in learner achievement by region, gender, location, and school type.
This year’s NST is being administered to all Primary 2 and Primary 4 pupils in public and some private schools from 5th to 15th December 2022.
They must also pay much attention to the basic and kindergarten education in the country. To achieve this, the director-general for the Ghana Education Service should intensify their supervision and monitoring to make sure that, teachers do what they are expected to do.
