Do Not Go For Vacation Today: Headmasters For Basic School Served With Official Letter.

Headmasters are the leaders and masterpieces for basic schools. Headmasters communicate news on their desks to the various departments in their schools.

Information reaching our desk a few days ago stipulates that some headmasters are willing to vacate their students for the Christmas Celebration on 15th December 2022. However, the official release from the Ghana Education Service GES has debunked all information in the system stressing the issue that, Vacation will be on the 15th of December 2022.

The official date for the basic school vacation released to all headmasters which are circulating on all social media houses stipulates the official date for a vacation to be 16th December 2022.

Basic Schools in Ghana Are Prepared to Re-Open – CHBS

The date changed from 15th December 2022 to 16th December 2022. This is as a result of a new standardized examination that was introduced for some sections of basic schools’ student. As a result of the new teaching curriculum which was introduced in the Ghana Education System a few years ago, standardized examinations must be conducted for basic four students. This examination or test is expected to be conducted across the country in other to assess them and determine their progress in climbing the educational ladder.

In all circumstances, there is a need for the basic four students to partake in this standardized examination. However, it will not be on the safer side for all other learners who are not going to partake in the standardized examination to go on vacation before those who are to take part in the said exams.

On the best decision from the Ghana Education Service, an official notice was released to all headmasters to postpone the already date of vacation from Thursday, 15th December 2022 to Friday, 16th December 2022.

“Vacation date for public basic schools – Third Term, 2022 Academic Year. Re-opening date for public Basic Schools – First Term, 2023 Academic Year.

Management of Ghana Education Service wishes to inform you that, the Vacation date for public basic schools for the third (3) has been shifted to Friday 16th December 2022.

This is to enable primary four (P4) pupils to write the National standardized test on Friday, 16th December 2022.

The reopening date for the first term of the next academic year is 10th January 2022.

By this letter, Regional directors are kindly requested to communicate this information to the Metro / Municipals and District directors of education to inform all heads of the Basic schools to take note and act accordingly.

This is a new development from the Ghana Education Service and all headmasters should take note. Christmas is one of the festive seasons which is mostly celebrated at the time when students (mostly from basic schools) are on vacation.

This clearly shows that no student in the public sector under the Ghana Education Service (GES) for Basic schools will go to school after Friday 16th December 2022 until 10th January Tuesday, 2023.
