One Teacher One Laptop: No data on KA Technologies – Registrar General and GSA reveals
Innovative Teachers and All Teachers Alliance Ghana (ATAG) wrote a letter to the Registrar Generals Department seeking details about KA Technologies. However, it turned out that no details were found about KA Technologies, the company contracted by the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service to supply laptops to public school teachers in Ghana.
The lack of data on the company was confirmed to the teacher unions by the Registrar General Mrs. Jemima M. Oware who indicated after a search KA Technologies Ghana Limited was conducted.
The leaders of the two unions say they can not understand why a company that is not legally res=gistered by the laws of Ghana and has no data with the registrar General can be given a contract to supply laptops to teachers nationwide.
The teacher unions went on to say that they had written to the Ghana Standards Authority again, asking if they had certified the TM1 computers that were being delivered.
The unions see this as a violation because of the Vice President’s distribution of 71 uncertified laptops to teachers at ST. Mary’s Senior High School during the launch of the “one teacher, one laptop”. It furthered that this act by the Vice President has harmed the Ghana Standards Authority’s efforts to stamp out the operations of people who sell counterfeit goods.
KA Technologies Ghana Limited, according to the unions, has no prior experience producing laptops in Ghana. They further stated that the ‘business’s’ social media profiles and website were all created in 2021 and that the ‘company’ does not have a landline.’
The Unions went on to say that KA Technologies Ghana Limited was incorporated with the Public Procurement Authority on November 4, 2020, and SSNIT registered the firm in November 2020.

“The laptops from K.A TECHNOLOGIES that were distributed to some teachers not long ago have started breaking down. How did K.A TECHNOLOGY get this contract to manufacture 280,000 laptops or 350,000 laptops at a time when its laptop has not been certified by Ghana Standards Authority? The Ministry of Education has supervised the distribution of uncertified laptops to teachers contrary to the laws of Ghana.” The Unions added.
