No Ghana Card, No Banking Service (Financial) Effective July 1
Do you know that per the BOG directive, banks will start a No Ghana Card, No Banking Service (Financial) effective July 1?
Following the Bank of Ghana (BOG) directive, the Ghana Card will be the ONLY ID card for financial transactions from July 1.
This is the latest update to all citizens and non-citizens of Ghana ahead of the implementation of the above directive from the Bank of Ghana.
Customers of all banks have been advised by their respective banks via text messages to present their Ghana cards as a means of identification when they visit any banking office to access financial services.
Commercial and retail banks provide basic banking services and products to the public, both individual consumers and small to mid-sized businesses. These services include checking and savings accounts, loans and mortgages, basic investment services such as CDs, as well as other services such as safe deposit boxes.
- Transferring money between personal banking accounts (transacting banking)
- Providing a retail banking customer with a loan.
- Issuing debit cards and credit cards.
- Exchanging monies (foreign exchange services)
- Providing financial advice on investments and savings.
