According to the National Teaching Council, the council would roll out short courses for all Non-qualified teachers in the country to enable them to meet the minimum academic requirements for the award of the NTC teachers professional certificate.
While speaking in an interview monitored by Ghanaeducation.org, the Registrar of the council, Dr. Christian Addai Poku of the NTC disclosed that the National Teaching Council will by the last quarter of 2022 award all non-qualified teachers temporary licenses.
The license can only be renewed twice by such teachers, he said.
“The NTC will 18 months after the issuance of license card to qualified in-service teachers award non-qualified teachers a temporary license which can be renewed for two times” Dr. Christian Addai Poku, the Registrar said.

He furthered that; short courses will be organized for these teachers to help them be fit for purpose for classroom work but they will have to pursue programmes in teacher training institutions to meet the requirements of being professional teachers.
Non-qualified teachers were however advised not to panic but rather initiate steps to upgrade themselves by enrolling for education programmes in any teacher training institution or colleges of education.
