Opoku Ware school authorities refute claims of mass de-boardinization
Opoku Ware School has recently been at the center of controversy over alleged mass de-boardinization claims, which the school’s authorities have categorically refuted.
In a statement, Rev. Stephen Sekyere Owusu, the Headmaster, addressed the swirling rumors, clarifying that the school’s recent disciplinary measures were not as widespread as reported.
According to him, the actions were taken against a specific group of students who had left the school premises for the Easter break without proper authorization, not the purported 1,200 or 6,000 students mentioned in various reports.
Rev. Owusu stressed the school’s commitment to maintaining discipline and adhering to the rules set by the Ghana Education Service (GES).
He explained that the affected students were asked to stay home temporarily, pending the decision of the Disciplinary Committee (DC).
To address the situation thoroughly and involve all stakeholders in the disciplinary process, the school administration has organized a meeting with the parents of these students.

The headmaster’s aim is to ensure such incidents do not recur, highlighting the school’s zero-tolerance policy towards indiscipline.
By involving parents in the resolution process, Opoku Ware School is making a concerted effort to partner with families in reinforcing the importance of following school regulations.
Rev. Owusu’s appeal to parents to support the school in instilling discipline rather than encouraging defiance underscores a collaborative approach to education and student welfare.
This clarification from the school’s headmaster serves as a reminder of the importance of clear communication between educational institutions and the public.
It also emphasizes the role of discipline in shaping the character and future of students, reaffirming Opoku Ware School’s reputation as an institution committed to excellence and order.
