Breaking: 230 of 256 failed teachers pass teacher promotion exam after remarking

Over 200 of 256 teachers who failed the promotion examination have miraculously passed after remarking of the scripts. This is the latest information Ghanaeducation.org is picking.

Ahead of the 2022 December Teacher Promotion Examination, 256 teachers sued for being failed in the 2021 promotion examination.

They went ahead to seek an order of the court to place an injunction on the December 2022 examination until all issues outstanding in their case before the court are dealt with.

Reports available to GhanaEdcuation.org is that, the Minister of Education pushed for the remarking of the scripts of the 256 teachers who all sat the said examination in the same exam centre.

The 256 teachers called for the Education Minister, Dr. Adutwumua to intercede in the matters they have petitioned him on since, they believed that they had prepared well before taking the said examination.

Prior to the remarking of the scripts, the GES failed to furnish the teachers with marks they had obtained in the examination.

The GES furthered that the teachers had failed the examination and that its investigations showed nothing wrong had happened.

The court case contributed to the postponement of the December 2022 Promotional Examination for GES staff scheduled for 19th and20th December 2022.

The examination was postponed until February 2023 to give the Ministry, GES, and the NTC more time to resolve the legal issues and bring matters to an end.

If 230 out of the 256 who failed have passed the examination, then the GES has many questions to answer, including the following.

1. Does the GES really mark the scripts of teachers who sit for the promotional examination?
2. Does the GES intentionally fail candidates?
3. Does the GES pass candidates from specific examination centres and fail others from other centres?
4. Does the GES have integrity, and can we trust them with the results of the previous promotion examinations released?
5. Is the government using a quota system to determine the number of applicants who pass the promotion examination?
6. What is the standard pass mark for the teacher promotion examination?
