Over 8,000 Ghanaians have received new chip-embedded passports

Since the introduction of the new Ghana passport embedded with chips, a total of 8,463 Ghanaians have conveniently received their new chip-embedded passports across the country. The recipients had their passports deliver to them in their homes and offices without the need to travel to the passport office.
The systems put in place since the appointment of Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa as the Minister of Foreign Affairs have not only yielded amazing results but has also put beaming smiles on the faces of Ghanaians.
Today, nearly all Ghanaians are craving for the new passport especially due to the reduction in the cost of assessing it and the short period within which these passports are being processed.
Every Ghana can get his or her passport delivered to his or her doorsteps within two weeks after applying.
Speaking on the success story of the ministry, Ablakwa, revealed that 8,463 Ghanaians have received their new chip-embedded passports.
“An impressive 8,463 Ghanaians have conveniently received their new chip-embedded passports across the country via courier without paying extra charges since our April 28, 2025, Reset Passport Reforms”, the sector minister disclosed in a tweet.

Mr. Ablakwa also indicated that the figure is based on official data from the Passport Head Office.
“Mahama’s government is here to serve you diligently and to keep our pledges to you”, the sector minister added.
