The Ministry of Education (MoE) has announced the 2024 placement for the 2020 batch of nurses and midwives. In a statement published by Ghana Education News, the Ghana Health Service confirmed it has received a list of 6,015 nurses and midwives who applied for postings through the Ministry of Health portal.
The statement further explained that all nurses and midwives registered on the portal and who chose to work with the Ghana Health Service are required to report to their preferred regions with their certificates and AIN/PIN from the Nursing and Midwifery Council for selection and placement as per the schedule below:
- Enrolled Nurses: Report to your preferred region with certificates and AIN/PIN on Monday, November 18, 2024.
- Community Health Nurses, Registered Community Nurses, and Public Health Nurses: Report with certificates and AIN/PIN on Wednesday, November 20, 2024.
- All Nursing and Midwifery Officers: Report with certificates and AIN/PIN starting from Friday, November 22, 2024.
All nurses and midwives are encouraged to contact the MoE and GHS at 0240786263 or visit any GHS regional health directorate if further assistance is needed.
While some members of the public have welcomed the posting of the 2020 batch as positive news, others have raised concerns, questioning why the government waited until just before elections to provide jobs that should have been offered much earlier.
With the general elections scheduled for December 7th, the government is also expected to release postings in the education sector soon, potentially as part of its campaign strategy to gain additional votes.
