On Friday, May 16, disruption arised at the Accra High School when a student and a teacher got into fistfights. These things are not secluded. In November last year, an educator in Offinso, Ashanti Region, was pierced with knife in the eye by a student, an unbelievable act that emphasized the seriousness of the issue. In spite of numerous calls from the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) for reimbursement and security, there’s been less reply from the officials.

Now, the Pre-Tertiary Teacher Association of Ghana is giving fair warning, Adokwei Ayikwei-Awulley is the Vice President of the Association. Talking on a discussion with 3news, he stated that, the employment law says that if an environment is not helpful for work, one must exit, so if the Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education do not react, we will be exiting from classrooms in no time.

The Association is requesting action at once and a call for conversation.
They proposed, requesting the Parent Teacher Association, civil society, the Ministry of Education and Ghana Education Service to allow them have a national conversation to talk about the gravity of insubordinate in our institutions.
