President Mahama terminates Zoomlion contract after 19 years, declares sweeper pay raise

President John Dramani Mahama has canceled the disputed 19-year sanitation contract between the Youth Employment Agency and Zoomlion Ghana Limited. The investigative evidence of mismanagement provided by journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni to President Mahama resulted in the cancellation.
As part of an official reply, President Mahama verified that the terminated contract will not be renewed and directed an investigation into post-contract payment to Zoomlion.
New sanitation contracts will now go through regional competitive bidding process to cut costs and improve services.
