Primetime announces new dates to organize 2025 NSMQ

Primetime Limited, the organizers of the National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ), have announced new dates to commence the 2025 edition of the national championship of the competition.
Previously, Primetime Limited scheduled the launch and preliminary stage balloting of the 2025 edition of the National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ) for Tuesday, October 7, 2025.
It also slated the NSMQ preliminary stage for October 13 to 17, one-eight on October 19 to 21, the quarter-final on October 23 to 25, the semi-final on October 27, and the grand finale on October 30, 2025.
But in a social media post, the organizers said the launch and preliminary balloting for the 2025 NSMQ will take place on October 15, 2025, with the main competition kicking off on October 20, 2025, and ending on November 6, 2025.
It indicated that the preliminary stage will run from October 20, 2025, to October 24, 2025; the one-eighth stage will take place from October 26 to 28; the quarter-final stage from October 30 to November 1, 2025; the semi-final stage on November 3, 2025; and the grand finale on November 6, 2025.
The new dates come after the Ministry of Education released GH¢9.5 million to settle arrears of the National Science and Maths Quiz, which led to the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) withdrawing all government Senior High Schools from participating in the quiz.
The Education Minister said the release of the GH¢9.5 million was to enable public Senior High Schools (SHSs) to prepare students for the 2025 edition of the National Science and Mathematics Quiz (NSMQ).
In a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Hashim Haruna, the Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to promoting science and mathematics education through consistent financial support and broader participation.
“The Ministry of Education has released an amount of GH¢9.5 million to Primetime Company to clear all the arrears owed to the organizers of the National Science and Mathematics Quiz competition,” the statement read.
