Now, there is a Council comprised of private school teachers of which every private school teacher has the luxury of chance to join so that we can help ourselves by Meeting our employers to jaw jaw to have better condition of service, still private school teachers feel reluctant to Register, and pay dues

God help the leaders of NCOPST not to give up because the leaders have a lot of challenges

Few questions for private school teachers in Ghana who are not part of NCOPST

1. Maternity leave and study leave with pay
Do you enjoy maternity leave with pay as enshrined in labour laws as a private school female Teacher.?. We are all aware that about 98% of the female Teachers loose their jobs when go on delivery in the private sector.

If any school treat NCOPST Members in this way, the school will face the National Trapartite Committee to be sanctioned because it is unlawful

2. Extra work with allowance
Do you receive an allowance for extra work?. It is NO. Yet you feel reluctant to join NCOPST.

3. Were you paid during COVID-19
You weren’t paid during COVID-19 but countries with teacher Associations got financial support and NCOPST also got money from NBSSI to her Members who are committed. God bless the few Schools (1%) who paid their teachers in Ghana.

4. Is there mutual respect among you and the Employer
Some school management look down on their workers and even disgrace the teachers in front of the students in many ways. Salaries are sometimes reduced for lateness, absent from school because of sickness and many more.

5. Teacher upgrade and Teacher Professionalism workshops
Do you pay for workshops or it is the school that pays for you? Is there any fund that supports teachers in your school to further Education? How does your school help you to continue schooling to pursue a degree, Masters etc?

6. Salaries for diploma or degree holders
Is your salary the same as the public school teachers? It is NO, why? What is the law saying about this? Private schools must pay well than public schools All private well Structured companies pay well than government workers except in education. WHY?.

These and many others can be addressed with the help of NCOPST through the law and agencies like NaSIA, National Tripartite Committee, National Labour Commission, Ministry of Employment, Ministry of Education and many more
