The queen mother of Sunyani Traditional Council, Nana Akosua Dua Sika Asor Brayie II, has appealed to John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), to select his running mate for the 2024 election from the Bono Region.
In a video shared by UTV on Sunday, November 19, 2023, Queen Mother of Sunyani, Nana Sika Asor Brayie II emphasized that it is time for the Bono Region to have a vice president, citing historical trends where vice presidents were chosen from various regions except Bono.

Expressing her plea, she said, “…we have had vice presidents from different parts of the country… I want to plead with my father (Mahama) that this time around he should choose one (a vice president) from our region, Bono.”
Encouraging the electorate to vote wisely, the Queen Mother of Sunyani urged them to choose a candidate who prioritizes the interests of the Bono Region and can contribute to its transformation.
Describing Mahama as a humble person, she shared a personal encounter with the former president, which reportedly led to a change of heart among individuals, including members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
As political dynamics unfold in the lead-up to the 2024 elections, the Queen Mother’s appeal sheds light on the regional considerations in the selection of political leaders and the potential impact on the electorate’s decisions.
