Residents of Nkawkaw protested against their MP

Concerns Residents of Nkawkaw in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern region of Ghana on Friday, December 15, 2023, hit the streets to embarked on massive demonstration against poor infrastructure development in the municipality.
The Youths, expressed their grievances and disappointed against their Member of Parliament, Hon. Joseph Frimpong.

The protestors believed that, their representative have not helped in promoting infrastructures development in the town, especially neglection of the Nkawkaw Sports Stadium which is the major problem in the community now.
One of the reasons why they embark on such a significant protest is how the government has abandoned the famous Nkawkaw Sports Stadium which serves as a home venue for the Soccer mountaineers, Okwahu United for a couple of months.
They said, the sitting government promised to rebuild the stadium before the end of the Year, but nothing has been done.
The protestors claim that, their Member of Parliament has not been advocating for the betterment of the town.
During an interview with one of the leaders of the demonstration, he urged the MP to step down since he has failed the residents of Nkawkaw.

“The MP has lost touch with the constituency and the constituents. He does not know what the needs of the people are and has done very little to improve the development of the constituency since he was elected in 2020.”
“He promised to ensure the completion of our stadium and has failed to do so. He should just go and not even think of contesting the party’s upcoming primaries,” he said.
“No stadium no votes”, “Fix Nkawkaw Sports “, “Stop deceiving the Nkawkaw Youths”, “Are you aware of Bad impacts on the people of Nkawkaw for the past years?” were some of the messages on the placards held by the protestors during the demonstration.
The Gateway to Kwahu, Nkawkaw have raised numerous of great personalities in the country ranging from footballers, musicians, media personalities among others but they lack essential facilities the in municipality.
The protestors pleaded for the intervention of the Government to complete the Nkawkaw Sports Stadium.
The anger of the people should not only depend on the sport stadium, but must also be on the poor state of the insfrasturature of Nkawkaw senior high school. The structures are very poor and dangerous to the lives of the students and other people who patronize the school.
