According to WAEC, the results were released to the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE) almost a month ahead of schedule.
The early release on July 17 will expedite school placements and planning for the upcoming academic year.
Of the 171,112 pupils who entered the exam, 128,766 (78.2%) achieved or surpassed the official cutoff score of 230. This includes 66,371 girls and 62,395 boys. While boys showed a slightly higher pass rate (78.5% compared to 77.9% for girls), more girls overall sat and passed the examination.
Mansaray Kadijah Yawa Joe, a female student from Dele Nursery & Preparatory School in Wellington, achieved the highest score with an impressive 346 T-score. International College of Makeni Primary School led all institutions with a 100% pass rate and the highest average aggregate score of 332.39.
Other top-performing schools included Romans International Academy, Modern Academy School of Excellence, Therenisa Memorial Primary School in Bo, and Shalom Ville Schools.
This year’s examination saw an increase of over 6,000 entrants compared to last year. Additionally, 4,483 pupils (2,424 girls and 2,059 boys) scored 300 or above, another increase from the previous year, with more girls among the top five candidates.
However, concerns have been raised regarding a rise in absent candidates for the second consecutive year, with 5,771 pupils missing at least one paper.
The MBSSE announced it would investigate the underlying causes of this trend and warned against attempts to cheat or manipulate the system, stating that monitoring and enforcement will be tightened.
Result packages are currently being dispatched to schools to enable students and parents to access the results.
