He met his second wife, Kay Cousins, in Hollywood’s Actors’ Lab, and they married in 1949. David was the son of Johnson, and Kim was the daughter of Johnson. Cousins died in Century City, California, the United States, on January 20, 1980.

Johnson won custody of her son, Courtney, after marrying Constance “Connie” Dane in 1982. Johnson and co-author Steve Cox’s autobiography, Here on Gilligan’s Island, was written and published in 1993.
