BECE English Essay Question With Solution
Question: Write a letter to the Member of Parliament of your constituency, telling him/her about the rise in armed robbery in your area. Suggest at least two ways to check it
Ghana Education News,
P.O. Box Lg6,
Legon, Accra.
12th May, 2019.
The Member of Parliament,
Ayawaso West Wuogon,
Parliament House Accra.
Dear Madam,
Armed Robbery In Ayawaso West Wuogon And How To Check It
Our constituency, Ayawaso West Wuogon remains one of the affluent constituencies in Ghana with varied important personalities dwelling within it.
In recent times, crime has been on the rise with armed robbery being one of the topmost. Constituents live in fear as criminals continue to invade homes and trespass into people’s residences at night and during the day to rob them of their valuables, including cash, cars, jewels among others.
In some instances, these criminals have killed their innocent targets and even raped women and girls at gunpoint before leaving the crime scene.
The most recent being the robbery at American House in East Legon on Saturday during which the robbers invaded a jewelry shop during the day, fired several warning shots, and made away with millions of cedis from a jewelry shop. In the end, one innocent person was shot dead and none of the robbers has been arrested.
I believe you are as worried as we the inhabitants of the constituency and would want to ensure the recent spike in robbery cases is brought under control.
I will recommend that to help deal with the rise in armed robbery cases in the Ayawaso West Wuogon, the East Legon Police Station and other police posts in the constituency should deploy their men on night patrols across the constituency on a night-by-night basis. Their presence can help prevent such crimes from being carried out.
The police should also mount checkpoints across the constituency on major roads and junctions leading in and out of the constituency.
Again, the various communities in the constituency should be supported to form watchdog committees. The young men and women who join these ask forces within their unit committee areas can provide additional support to the Ghana police to ensure lives and properties are protected.
I am of the view that these suggestions if implemented will help to reduce or deal with the recent rise in armed robbery in your area. It will also help flash out such bad persons from our constituency.
It is my hope that you will take the needed steps with the help of the security agencies to do doing something about this unfortunate crime wave in the shortest possible time.
Yours faithfully,
K.D
