See the 2025 BECE registration date, payment procedures and caution

Ahead of the start of the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) registration for school candidates, the GES has released the official BECE registration date, payment and registration procedures, as well as caution to all head teachers and schools.

2025 BECE registration phase one date, details and more

According to the press release cited by Ghana Education News, the registration for the 2025 BECE starts on Monday, 17th January, 2025. The closing date for phase one is 21st March 2025.

Phase one of the registration would be carried out by schools and shall be only for capturing candidates’ personal information, subject selection and pictures. This phase ends on 21st March, 2025.

 

MATERIALS TO BE SUBMITTED

The photo album generated from the registration software should be printed and submitted to the Council through District Directors of Education not later than Monday, 31st March, 2025.

Kindly note that correction can be effected online till 21st March, 2025. A new statement of entries reflecting the corrected version should be printed in each case.

 

ELIGIBILITY FOR 2025 BECE CANDIDATES

According to the GES, only third-year students in junior high schools are eligible for the school candidates examination. It is against the rules and regulations of the examination to register students who are in the first or second year and those who are not bona fide students of your school.

 

Phase two of 2025 BECE registration

The second phase of the registration will cover the capturing of students continuous assessment (CASS) by the schools and the subsequent uploading of data online. It starts on 4th April and ends on 30th April, 2025.

 

Final BECE registration phase

The final BECE registration phase is for the selection and submission of schools for registered students. Schools are required to download the approved School Choice software for the phase and guide parents and their students in the selection of schools that match their academic strength. The final schools selected are to be  subsequently uploaded onto the 2025 BECE registration portal. The registration starts on 5th May and ends on 31st May, 2025.

 

Heads of School are entreated to study the following documents carefully before starting the exercise:

(1) BECE Registration Procedure Flyer;

(2) Notes for the Guidance of Heads of School on Registration of Candidates;

(3) User Manual for BECE-BRS software.

The ‘User Manual’ and ‘Registration Software’ can be downloaded from the registration website.

Please note that it is extremely important that the correct subjects are selected during the registration exercise. Finalise your registration data only after all corrections have been effected.

4. PAYMENT OF REGISTRATION FEE

Registration fees should be paid at any of the following banks after the candidates’ registration data has been finalised and uploaded online. This is peculiar only to private schools since the government of Ghana intends to absorb the registration fees of candidates from public Schools. Private schools can pay for the BECE registration in the following banks.

(1) Consolidated Bank (Ghana) Ltd.

(2) Access Bank (Ghana) Ltd.

(3) Ecobank (Ghana) Ltd.

(4) Zenith Bank (Ghana) Ltd.

(5) United Bank for Africa (Ghana) Ltd.

(6) Bank of Africa (Ghana) Ltd.

(7) Prudential Bank (Ghana) Ltd.

(8) Agricultural Development Bank (ADB).

 

Please note the following:

(a) The registration shall become valid only after payment of the registration fee.

(b) There are no bank charges on the fees paid.

(c) Payment orders shall not be accepted.
