#1. To register, Search for Google News Registration and click on that to go to the Publisher Centre.

#2. Scroll until you see “How it works” and click on the link Publisher Center in the content.

#3. Once the interface loads, check the right top corner for the “Add Publication” That is where the actual registration starts from.

#4. Provide the details required. The Publication name is simply the name of your blog or website you want to register. The primary website property is the home page URL of your website or blog eg. Websitename.com , websitename.org etc whichever you use. Finally, select the country your website or blog is located in, e.g. Ghana.

#5. Click on Add Publication on the left-down Bottom; Check the box, then click the Add Publication button turned blue to proceed with the registration.

#6. On the new page, click on Publication settings to proceed.

#7. Fill all the details plus the language in which you publish on your site.

#8. If you have already verified your site ownership on the Google console, click on the [Verify search console] to complete this phase of the Google News Registration. If verified, it will turn green.

#10. Ignore other requirements and go to Contacts: Provide points of contact for your publication. Type in your preferred email. We recommend the Gmail account on which your website has been verified. Thick or ignore available options such as Technical and Product mails.

#11. Go to the email. A verification link would be sent to the email. Click on the link to verify, then come back to the registration page.

#12. Click on save at the right top corner of the page.

#13. Click on proceed

#14. Check your email and verify before you continue.

#15. Upload your website logo which must be either PNG or JPEG (Dimensions of 1000 by 1000 px or Required: 512 by 512 px)

#16. Upload your Rectangular logo (recommended) with white background and the other with a dark background. The required dimension is 400 px wide and a minimum of 200 px wide and 20 px high

#17. Click to save and proceed.

#18. Click on the back arrow until you see the interface in the image below.

#19. Click on Google News followed by Edit on the new page

#20. Choose the category that relates to your content, e.g. News & Politics, Business & Finance, Arts, etc.

#21. For distribution, you can choose a country or leave as worldwide (default) which is the best and leave the all properties option intact.

#22. Click next to proceed to the next stage, do not get tired, you are almost done.

#23. Click on New Section and select Feed

#24. Copy and paste the first feed URL from the GN plugin you installed.

To get this, click on the info and tips link from the installed plugin section at the back end of your website. The first feed link looks like this https://website.com/feed/gn

#25 Enter the name of the feed eg. Tech News and past the feed link copied into the URL section.

#26. The “View access” option should remain for everyone and click Add to proceed.

#27. Click save, then Next to proceed with the Google News Registration Procedure.

#28. Now you have a new interface, click on the first review button to proceed.

#29. Wait for about 5 to 15 minutes and click refresh, then click on the article dropdown to see if your site’s URLs have loaded. If yes.

Hurray… Let’s complete the final step

#30. Go to the end of that same page and click on Next to proceed.

#31. You should now see your website feeds (content) loaded on the right panel of the new page.

#32. Click on the review relating to the terms of service and provide the details required.

#33. Click submit and then click PUBLISH to complete the process.

You should receive a pop-up with the information like the one below…

[Website name here] submitted for review

Thanks for submitting your publication to Google News. The review process takes 2 – 4 weeks. You’ll get an email when your publication is live, or if there’s an issue.

After successfully registering, post only original and quality content to your blog and wait for the approval. You can always check the status of the Google News Registration by going to Publisher Center
