With the third GES academic term for basic schools now running, Telecel Ghana Foundation is launching the fourth group of its DigiTech Academy by reaching five new regions to train 500 students in advanced digital skills.
Part of the Telecel Ghana Foundation’s Connected Learning initiative, the DigiTech Academy is a 12-week after-school programme meant to strengthen STEM education by giving hands-on technical training to upper primary and junior high school students.
Through weekly in-person sessions, young learners are introduced to robotics, coding and web development, gaining real experience that leads to building working digital solutions to solve problems in their communities at the end of the 3-month training.
The new group, set to start in the first week of May, will run in Yendi in the Northern Region, Sawla in the Savannah Region, Nalerigu in the North East Region, Effiakuma in the Western Region, and Enchi in the Western North Region.
As with earlier groups, teachers in participating schools have also been trained before the student sessions begin, delivered by the partner groups Mingo Foundation and Asustem Robotics.
This way, knowledge stays in the schools, allowing teachers to keep guiding students even after the programme ends.
