The information reaching our desk from Adom TV indicated that Odumase Basic School located in Sunyani West District in the Bono Region is no longer in running. The school management was compiled to close down the school in other for peace to prevail in the schools and its’ environment.
It was reported that one of the teachers at Odumase Basic School lashed a final-year student (JHS 3 students). After canning the final-year student, the student and a section of youth in the town came to the school to attack the teacher and his colleagues. The issue was intensified and the management have no option but to close down the school.
The District Chief Executive for the electoral area speaks as he calls for peace to prevail so that students can go back to the classrooms. The offense of the student (victim) was that he stayed out of Class and the said teacher decided to punish him which brought about the whole confusion.
However, GES admonishes teachers not to cane students again.
