Elon Musk’s Tesla offers a whooping $7,500 in discount as part of efforts to boost sales and deliveries as the year ends.
Tesla’s offers of $7,500 in discount has come as a surprise to many lovers of electric cars. The offer is for its new Model 3 sedans and Model Y cars. This move apart from it being expected to increase sales has also been seen by tax experts as an effort aimed at ensuring the company makes some gains ahead of the changes to U.S. tax credits that take effect in 2023.
Tesla Inc is therefore offering its U.S. consumers the $7,500 to take delivery of its two cheapest models before year-end.
This is also expected to create some debate among carmakers as they struggle to increase demand for their respective brands.
Per the new U.S. tax laws which take effect in January 2023, Teslas are expected to be eligible for $3,750 credits as part of the government’s electric vehicle incentives.

That changed this week when the U.S. Treasury Department announced it was delaying guidance on how to meet new battery content requirements, which may make certain consumers eligible for a full $7,500 credit early next year.
The decision by Elon Musk and his Tesla electric car firm to offer such a perk is highly unusual, as the company has enforced a no-discount policy going back years.
The incentive is the newest proof that the CEO’s forecast for an “amazing” year’s finale isn’t coming true. Musk has frequently attacked the Federal Reserve for rising borrowing rates, which Tesla has responded to by reducing pricing and production in China.

Tesla has previously stated that it anticipates falling slightly short of its goal to raise deliveries by 50% this year. The automaker warned investors that there will be another mismatch at the end of the year after output surpassed deliveries by more than 22,000 vehicles during the third quarter.
