Greenland is a North American autonomous territory in the Kingdom of Denmark. It is the biggest country within the Kingdom and one of three countries which form the Kingdom, the others being Denmark proper and the Faroe Islands. The citizens of all three countries are citizens of Denmark.

As Greenland is one of the Overseas Countries and Territories of the European Union, citizens of Greenland are also granted European Union citizenship. The capital and largest city of Greenland is Nuuk.

Greenland lies between the Arctic and Atlantic oceans, east of the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. It is the world’s largest island,as well as the northernmost area of the world. It also happens to be the emptiest country in the world.

Some people believe that when you visit Greenland for the first time, you may feel betrayed. This is because, the name of the country sounds ‘Green, but it isn’t all green. In fact, 90% of Greenland is white. It is covered by a giant ice sheet that is whiter than Snow.

Greenland is actually the largest island in the world. And guess what? It has zero trees. No trees grow naturally in the entire country because of the harsh weather. And most of the trees you see there are actually planted.

Greenland has few highways and no trains. The country has only 57,000 population. The population is concentrated mainly on the southwest coast, and the rest of the island is sparsely populated. Three-quarters of Greenland is covered by the only permanent ice sheet outside Antarctica. Greenland is the least densely populated region in the world.
