Tragic Death: Prison Officer Dies During Rehearsal For 6th March Parade
Sadly, a 40-year-old jail officer named Lance Corporal Paul Badu has reportedly gone unexpectedly after becoming unwell during the March 6 rehearsal parade in Koforidua. He first went to the prison clinic for medical treatment on February 8, 2024, but was subsequently sent to the Koforidua Central Hospital for emergency treatment.

Regrettably, his passing occurred on February 10. DSP Ezekiel Korletey, the Koforidua Prisons’ Public Relations Officer (PRO), reportedly confirmed the tragic news of Lance Corporal Badu’s death. When we were rehearsing on Thursday, he dropped the ball. The prison clinic inspected him, and upon realizing his condition wasn’t stable, they swiftly transported him to the Koforidua Central Hospital,” the PRO stated, as reported by Adom Onlince, citing TV3 in Accra. Although there hasn’t yet been an autopsy report, DSP Ezekiel Korletey has expressed his suspicion that Lance Corporal Paul Badu’s death was due to high blood pressure. The family of Lance Corporal Badu includes his wife and two kids.

Falling and dying during marching can be attributed to various factors such as medical conditions, exhaustion, dehydration, or extreme weather conditions. It’s crucial for individuals participating in marches to be physically prepared and to address any health concerns beforehand. Additionally, proper hydration, nutrition, and monitoring for signs of fatigue can help prevent accidents during marching events.
In some cases, accidents during marching can also result from factors like uneven terrain, inadequate footwear, or insufficient rest. Organizers and participants should prioritize safety measures, including proper training, route assessment, and emergency preparedness, to minimize the risk of falls and injuries during marches.

Furthermore, maintaining discipline and coordination within the marching group is essential to prevent collisions or accidents. Leadership should be well-versed in crowd control and emergency response.
