UEW will comply with court order to reinstate Avoke, others – UEW Council
Latest update on Tertiary Education: UEW will comply with the court order to reinstate Avoke, others – UEW Council
Following the court order for the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) to reinstate Prof. Avoke as Vice-Chancellor along with others, the UEW Council has disclosed its readiness to follow the court directive.
Professor Mawutor Avoke and three other main executives were fired after a court battle that began in July 2017. They were accused of financial mismanagement.
Professor Ephraim Avea Nsoh was one of three senior teachers fired in 2019 for misbehaviour and insubordination.
However, on Tuesday, February 2, 2022, the Winneba High Court ordered Professor Mawutor Avoke to be reinstated, along with all individuals who were harmed by the legal wrangling.
The Chairman of the Council, Nana Ofori Ansah, has stated that the institution will take the required steps to completely comply with the court’s judgment, despite the fact that not everyone would be pleased with the result.
“We are adhering to the court’s directives.” The court has ordered that they be reinstated, and we must obey. Some people will be satisfied with whatever decision is made, while others will not, so it all depends on whose interests that person is playing into. “It won’t please everyone, but it’s a court order,” he remarked.
“I pledge that upon my return to office in the coming days, I will provide the committed and visionary leadership needed to help the UEW to either achieve or move it closer to achieving its stated purpose.”
“I intend to work every day with all the genuineness of heart, skill, and diligence at my disposal to ensure that complete and total reconciliation is done between me and all the persons who may seem to have been vanquished by today’s judicial determination,” Prof. Avoke said in a statement.
