Two house helps, Patience Botwe and Sarah Agyei, are facing charges in Accra for allegedly stealing millions of Ghana Cedis from Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources Cecilia Abena Dapaah and her husband, Daniel Osei Kuffour.
The thefts reportedly took place between July and October 2022 at the couple’s residence in Abelemkpe, a suburb of Accra. Patience and Sarah are accused of stealing US$1 million, €300,000, and millions of Ghana Cedis, as well as personal effects belonging to the minister and her husband.
Patience is also accused of stealing six pieces of Kente cloth worth GH¢90,000 and six sets of men’s suits valued at US$3,000, which belonged to the minister’s husband.
Three other individuals have also been charged in connection with the thefts.
