The West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) is an external examination written by all final year senior high school students in West Africa. WAEC, organizes the WASSCE examinations each year for all West African final year SHS students.
In the past years, the WASSCE exams have been written on different dates in Ghana. This was because of the pandemic the world faced from March 2020, which led to several lockdowns in the world. Although the pandemic is ‘partially over’, Ghana will be writing alone this year too.

Grading System For The 2024 WASSCE
There isn’t a constant grading system used in marking WASSCE papers. At times, WAEC Ghana tend to raise the marking scheme if there are multiple confirmed reports of examination malpractices.
Normally, the grading system used is:
Grade | Percentage | Interpretation |
---|---|---|
A1 | 80-100 | Excellent |
B2 | 75-79 | Very Good |
B3 | 70-74 | Good |
C4 | 65-69 | Credit |
C5 | 60-64 | Credit |
C6 | 55-59 | Credit |
D7 | 50-54 | Pass |
E8 | 35-39 | Pass |
F9 | 0-34 | Fail |
How Important Are The Core Subjects?
All WASSCE candidates hoping to gain entry to the University should avoid D7, E8, and an F9 in any of the core subjects. When a candidate attains a D7 in any of the core subjects, he or she will not gain entry into any public tertiary institution. The only option at hand will be resitting for the WASSCE papers again or that particular core subject.

WASSCE Results Upgrading – Is It Real?
Now to the actual deal of the context, WASSCE results upgrading. Most candidates tend to fall prey for ‘hungry’ scammers on results upgrading. These scammers promise them results upgrading, thus if you obtained a D7 in English Language he will change to at least a B3 or an A1. They then tend to charge these novice and impatient candidates high sum of money in order to forge a document which in the long run harm the student.
In case a candidate forges his or her result and applies for admission at any tertiary institution, he or she will be caught. All tertiary institutions directly receive the official results of any applicant from WAEC Ghana.
WASSCE results upgrading is a total scam and hence, we strongly advise every candidate to desist from such unethical and illegal act.
