Viral Lady During OccupyJulorBiHouse Demo Loses Her Job

A lady by name Nasiba Bawa has claimed that she lost her job following a viral statement she made during the OccupyJulorBiHouse Demo.
During the OccupyJulorBiHouse Demo, Nasiba Bawa had an interview with JoyNews, which went viral. She criticized the healthcare system, particularly highlighting the death of a 24-year-old patient due to the inability to afford treatment costs.

Her interview stirred discussions, particularly about her plight of kidney disease patients at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.
According to Nasiba Bawa, she has been sacked from her position by her employer, while she was on sick leave, following the statement she made.
“If I knew the company was partisan, then maybe I could say that…but I don’t know it is partisan. I wasn’t rebuked for going to the protest; my uncle said that there is a price to pay for everything.” she said

Management of the company has also reacted to such claims made by Nasiba Bawa. According to the company, the termination was not linked to her involvement in the protest, as it has been reported.
They wrote;
“Responding as Joy Quarshie, co-founder of Proxy Assistant (@proxyassistant), a company I founded with Nasiba (@bbnasiba)! I’ve seen tags purporting that @bbnasiba was fired from @proxyassistant following her active participation in amplifying her voice as a concerned citizen during the #OccupyJulorbi House protest. I’d like to state that it’s FALSE.
First off, we bear the brunt of the economy and have been redoubling our efforts to serve clients in order to keep our organization afloat. A good look at @bbnasiba’s Linkedin will show that she still is at Proxy because it says “till present”!
@CheEsquire thanks for flagging the “till present” in your tweet but this was misconstrued by several persons and we see a clear case of misinformation spreading widely.
Like several of us, we take time to update our Linkedin profiles which may not be reflective of where we are at a current time. The interview she granted with Joy News (@joynews) also alluded that she cannot draw a direct link to her participation at the protests as the reason her contract was terminated with the company where she has worked these past months. She will respond to these claims in due course.
Let me use this opportunity to thank the many persons who have shown great support and solidarity for Nasiba (@bbnasiba) and offering her job roles! She will be in touch to speak in her stead.
Again, this is a clarion call to all and sundry to cross-check information before reposting. The harm it does can be irreversible. With this said, our company, Proxy Assistant, also needs all the support it can get and we look forward to working with you and for your support. A good place to start is by changing the hashtag #boycottproxyassistant to #supportproxyassistant.
We are all involved in building our motherland.
Thank you!”
