‘Volta Region is where saviours of the nation come from’ – Fifi Kwetey declares

The Volta Region, according to Fifi Kwetey, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is where Ghana’s saviors come from.
“Volta is the region, where saviours of the nation come from as far as this country is concerned, but we need to know who we are, and somehow, we know, who we are, and we need to start appreciating who we are.
“Volta must value NDC and support it no matter what. It should be treated as a religion. We need to show our people that this is who we are.
“And I believe that if we knew who we were, the situation where the love for this party started dwindling in this Region would not happen,” he said at a regional executives’ retreat in Dzodze, Ketu North Municipality.
He is concerned that, in contrast to the governing New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) strongholds in the Ashanti and Eastern regions, the NDC’s fortunes in the Volta Region are dwindling.
“Because they (Ashanti and Eastern) appreciate it and regard their party as a religion. Although your religion may not be the best, it is your religion. It is your responsibility to ensure that it is repaired and changed.”
Kwetey also charged the party’s rank and file with rededicating themselves to the party and doing everything possible to ensure that they sell the NDC gospel as the party prepares to wrestle power after the 2024 elections.
At the start of the four-day event, titled “Empowering Our Base for Victory in 2024,” Dan Abodakpi, Chairman of the National Council of Elders, charged party executives with uniting with MPs and other stakeholders, particularly the grassroots, in order to remain formidable.
