The West African Examination Council (WAEC) in Nigeria has opened registration for candidates who intend to write the first series of the private WASSCE.
Registration PINs are available in all WAEC-accredited banks, agents, and offices across Nigeria. WAEC has also indicated that the examination will be carried out online. The objective tests, according to WAEC, are all going to be computer-based tests.
However, Section B, also known as the subjective or theory section, will be a hybrid examination. Thus, candidates will be served the questions on computer screens; however, they will be required to provide the answers on paper for marking and grading.
This new system aims at dealing with all kinds of examination practices, including leakage of examination questions.
To get students ready for the main examination, WEAC Nigeria will organise mock examinations at centres to be announced. The mock examination is to help students practice how to take the online WAEC WASSCE for private candidates.
WAEC is, however, yet to announce the date and centres for the online mock examinations.
The examination fee for the WAEC (Nigeria) Private WASSCE for the 2024 first series is N27,000; however, students, while registering, will pay a commission of N500 to the bank or agent where they bought the WASSCE registration PIN.
The WAEC (Nigeria) Private WASSCE for 2024 series 1 will be written from January 31, 2024, to February 17, 2024.
According to WAEC, the WAEC (Nigeria) Private WASSCE for 2024 series 1 will be written in the following states: Ibadan, Osogbo, Ile Efe, Llorin, and Offa.
WAEC has called on all potential candidates to note the details provided above and register by the stated date to be able to participate in the examination. Candidates are also advised to have basic computing skills and take part in the WAEC-administered online mocks to ensure they get acquainted with the way the examination will be conducted.
