WAEC To Cancel Results of 2023 WASSCE Candidates Caught In Exam Malpractices

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has taken a final decision to cancel results of 2023 WASSCE candidates caught in exam malpractices.

The final decision and meeting resolution was reached at the 76th NEC meeting.

Key issues discussed were the high level of 2023 WASSCE exam malpractices. The council resolved to cancel all results of candidates who are proven beyond doubt to have engaged in any form of malpractice in the just-ended 2023 WASSCE.

The various penalties for the above include

  1. Cancellation of Entire Results (CER) or
  2. Cancellation of Subject Results (CSR)

 

The decision by the Nigerian Exam Council has sent frightening waves across Nigeria and Ghana where examination malpractices have become a common practice which has been  monitized.

The 76th Meeting of the Nigeria Examinations Committee (NEC) of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) was held from Tuesday, 3rd to Wednesday, 4th October 2023.

At meeting, the Committee received and considered reports on the conduct of WASSCE for School Candidates, 2023, as well as irregularity cases arising from the conduct of the examination.

The Committee, directed that the entire results of candidates proven to have been involved in examination malpractice, which attract the penalty of Cancellation of Entire Results (CER), be cancelled.

Similarly, subject results of Candidates proven to have been involved in examination malpractice, which attract the penalty of Cancellation of Subject Results (CSR), be cancelled.

The directives of the Committee will be implemented as soon as possible, and the Council will inform the affected candidates and Schools. Subsequently, the results of candidates exonerated by the Committee will be released without further delay.

The Committee also implored the States’ Ministries of Education and the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) to adhere strictly to the registration deadline for WASSCE for School Candidates’ examination diets.

In conclusion, the Committee commended the Council for the thorough investigations conducted on the reported examination malpractice cases presented during the meeting.

  1. I was not involved in examination mapratice, the external vigilante was there during the exam so there was no chance for me to do anything like mapratice,so I don’t know the reason why my waec result is still held.
