Ghana Education News has seen on social media, a message purported to be emanating from the Crime Investigation Division (CID) of the Ghana Police Service inviting persons and groups suspected to be dealing in the leaking of examination-related information to report to its officers for conversations. WAEC has commenced the 2021 WASSCE for school candidates nationwide.
The said WASSCE leakage syndicates invitation text message reads:
“The Ghana Police collaborating with the Crime Sector wish to invite you to our office at due date and prompted time below.
Date: 28-08-2021
Time: 10:45 am
Venue: Ring Red E, Accra Ghana Police Headquarters
Serial Shee: 70002301
In query, your number has been cited with diligent evidence involving in examination malpractices.
We humbly invite you for a proper conversation or we shall take action soon.
Welcome (CID GHANA).”
Attached to the message above was a call to caution those Examination dealers engaged in leaking the WASSCE 2021 examination was “NOTICE TO DEALERS 💃💃💃 It’s becoming tensious If you operate a Facebook page or group for WAEC runs or expo, kindly stop. They have added that on their radar too. Protect yourself”
Ghana Education News (Ghanaeducation.org) can not independently verify the authenticity of this message sighted. WAEC, the Ghana Police, and all stakeholders need to continue to collaborate to fight these examination questions and solution leaking canker which has the tendency to affect the credibility of our national and international examinations such as the WASSCE and BECE writing annually.
It would be prudent that, the West African Examination Council and the Ghana Police Service provide dedicated phone numbers through which the general public can report groups and social media handles engaged in these nefarious activities.
