Xi Jinping meets California Governor – State Media
During his week-long tour of China, California Governor Gavin Newsom met with Chinese leader Xi Jinping, as reported by state media. Governor Newsom, whose state boasts the largest economy in the United States, has made climate change the focal point of his visit.
Newsom stated that “California and China hold the keys to solving the climate crisis” and that their partnership is vital for addressing climate change not only in their own regions but also globally.

His visit began in Hong Kong, where he held a discussion on climate change, and he later traveled to Shenzhen, known for its pioneering efforts in renewable energy use in public transportation.
In Beijing, Newsom met with Wang Yi, one of China’s top diplomats. The discussions likely centered on environmental and climate change initiatives, as Newsom’s visit is aimed at strengthening cooperation between California and China in addressing these pressing global issues.
