Okatakyie Afrifa Mensah, has strongly criticized the Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II, for his persistent criticisms of the Ashanti Kingdom. According to him, what Dormaahene is doing is going to cause a lot of divorces in Ghana, especially between Ashantis and people from Dormaa.
According to him, Dormaahene’s critiques of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II are driven by a political agenda aimed at dissuading people from the Bono region from supporting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) due to their association with the Ashanti region.

He added that when an Ashanti man who is married to a Dormaa wife hears that Dormaahene is constantly insulting Otumfuo Osei Tutu, he might also say similar words against Dormaahene. This might cause divorce because the wife may not be happy about that.
“I am that he is going to cause a lot of divorce in the country. If someone is who comes from Dormaa and has married an Ashanti hears that you keep insulting their chief, he or she will also say similar words against Dormaahene in the house. When this happens, there will be a divorce since one party wouldn’t be happy” he said
He pointed out that Dormaahene’s public statements appear to be an effort to sway Bono region residents to vote for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
