“You Can Never Fight Galamsey Until You Sack Chairman Wontumi” – Captain Smart
Blessed Godsbrain Smart, the host of Maakye on Onua TV/FM, has stated that his fight against galamsey will remain a figment of his imagination until President Akufo Addo fires Chairman Wontumi. He has really fired President Akufo Addo and Chairman Wontumi.
Captain Smart was commenting on the President’s visit to the Ashanti Region regarding the increasing galamsey and other projects halted in the garden city following a Peoples’ Assembly jointly held by Onua TV/Akoma FM that brought to light several issues confronting the residents.
Captain Smart, who has named Bernard Antwi Bosiako, a regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, as a kingpin in the illegal mining business, stated that the President’s visit to discuss, among other things, the increasing galamsey in the region would be futile unless Wontumi is deposed.
“There is only one media house in this country that can go to the Ashanti region, and the president needs to go there in less than a week.” Because the problems are numerous.

But, before you fight galamsey, Nana Addo, sack Wontumi. “You can never fight Galamsey until you fire him,” he said.
On roads and infrastructure, while Onua TV and Akoma FM reporters reported that some roads, particularly Santasi Apire, were in poor condition, some residents who are believed to be party supporters refuted the reports, claiming that the road was under construction.

The next day, the contractor in charge of the road, Kofi Job construction, told Akoma FM studios that they left the site two years ago due to the government’s failure to fund the project.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, asked the president to complete the KNUST Teaching Hospital for him in 2017.
However, regional party officials and government officials noted that €80 million has been deposited into the University’s account to complete the project.
Meanwhile, Otumfuo is making appeal after appeal in order to complete the facility.

Other issues arose during the Peoples’ Assembly at the GNAT Hall in Kumasi, where some market women claimed that the government had given them money to expand their businesses without consulting the market’s leadership.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III, the Asantehemaa, has summoned the claimants and the leadership to explain how various associations were formed to receive government funds without the knowledge of market custodians.
Captain Smart noted on his show on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, that the president must be vigilant because contractors can be ordered to resume work on several abandoned projects overnight to give the impression that everything was fine.
