Hearts of Oak beat Tamale City FC 3-2 on Saturday afternoon in the Ghana Premier League. The game was close to a draw, but Hearts of Oak held on to win.
In week 11 of the 2022/23 league season, the Phobians took the lead when they were given a penalty kick in the 35th minute.
Salifu Ibrahim, the captain, and a midfielder stepped up to take the kick and scored to put Hearts of Oak ahead.
Before halftime, though, Tamale City FC surprised Hearts of Oak by scoring twice to turn the game around.
Isaac Mensah and Sampson Eduku scored for the visitors, giving them a two-goal lead going into halftime.

Hearts of Oak had to step up after the break, and they did just that. First, Benjamin Yorke tied the game in the 46th minute. Then, versatile defender Caleb Amankwah scored late in the game to give the Ghanaian giants a 3-2 win.
With today’s win, Hearts of Oak are now in second place in the Ghana Premier League.
