2022 BECE Over, School Choice & Selection Next: Choose Wisely
The 2022 BECE which is an exit examination for final-year JHS students ended today as the candidate wrote the French Language paper 2 and 1 between the hours of 9:30 and 11:30. With the examination now over, parents with the guide of schools and other stakeholders are to help select and choose Senior High Schools for their wards.
In all, each candidate is required to choose 6 schools. Candidates will be considered for placement into one of these schools after the release of the BECE results and the school placement in 2023.
To avoid being displaced, it is prudent that parents and candidates carefully make school choices. The just-ended BECE should guide candidates to make the right choices.

Per a publication of the Ministry of Education sighted by the Ghanaeducation.org, The Ministry will start a school selection sensitization exercise from 24th October to 29th October whiles the school selection starts on 31st October and ends on 18th November 2022.
The MoE has also introduced what it calls the Cluster system as part of the school selection process. This allows candidates to opt for them to be placed in other any other school within a given category if they are not placed in their chosen school in that category.
Again, the MoE has added the newly constructed STEM schools to the 2022 School list which candidates can choose from.

Candidates and parents are to note that, the schools have been categorized into A, B, C, and D.

Category A Secondary Schools in Ghana –Here

A candidate can choose only one school from category A, but it is not compulsory to make such a choice. No more than 2 schools can also be chosen from category B. A candidate can however choose up to five schools from Category C and at least one school from Category D.
