This paper is in two sections: A and B. Answer Question 1 in section A and any other four questions in section B. Answer all the questions in your answer booklet. Credit will be given for clarity of expression and orderly presentation of material

1. (a) The diagram below is an experiment performed in a biology laboratory. Study the diagram

Carefully answer the questions that follow

(i) Identify the parts labelled I, II and IV. [3 marks]
(ii) What observation would be made after some time? [1 mark]
(iii) What conclusion can be drawn from the experiment? [1 mark]
(iv) Give a suitable title for the experiment? [2 mark]
(v) Write a chemical equation for the reaction between the air breathed out and III. [3 marks]

(b) The diagram below illustrates the concept map of the change of state of matter. Study it Carefully and answer the questions that follow.

(i) Identify the parts labelled I, II, III, IV, V, VI and VII. [7 marks]
(ii) Mention one example each of I and V. [2 marks]
(iii) Mention one example of the part labelled VII. [1 mark]

(c) The diagram below is an illustration of instruments for measurement. Study them carefully and answer the questions that follow.

(i) Identify each of the instruments A, B, C and D. [4 marks]
(ii) Name the parts labelled I, II, III, and IV. [2 marks]
(iii) State the use of each of the instruments A, D and C [3 marks]
(iv) Name one place where instrument D is used. [1 mark]

(d) The figure below shows the final shapes obtained after manually manipulating soil samples from three different localities.
