2023 GES Physical Education & Sports Calendar For Basic Schools

Ghana Education Service has released the 2023/2023 Physical Education and school activities calendar for basic schools in Ghana.
Education stakeholders are advised to take note of the following activities and observe them as such.
However, the could be changes in each district as district head may choose its own suitable time and date.

ACTIVITIES FOR FIRST TERM

1. From 9th through to 13th January 2023, Workshops for Regional P.E Coordinators will be held and attended at Kumasi, Ashanti Region.

2. On 10th January 2023, all Schools will open for academic work.

3. From 1st February 2023 through to 18th February 2023, Inter Schools Sports Competitions will be held in all the 16 Regions in the country.

4. From 20th February 2023 to 28th February 2023, Preparation towards Independence Anniversary Activities will be in progress across all Regions/MMDS.

5. On the 6th of March 2023, Independence Day Activities will go on in all the selected venues in the country.

6. From 15th March 2023 to 17th March 2023, there will be an Annual National Technical and General Meeting in Accra.

7. First Term vacation for all Schools will be a week. Starting from 1st April 2023 to 9th April 2023.

ACTIVITIES FOR 2nd TERM

1. The month of April would also be used for Games and Athletics. Primary U13, & Basic U15, and Inter school/Circuit/Zonal Sports Competitions across all selected venues.

2. From 16th May 2023 to 18th May 2023 – U13 Zonal 1 (Upper East, Upper West Northern, and North East) will be held in Tamale.

3. From 19th May 2023 to 22nd May 2023 – U13 Zone 2 (Savannah, Bono, Ahafo, Bono East) will be in progress at Sunyani.

4. From 22nd May 2023 to 25th May 2023 – U13 Zone 3 (Ashanti Western, Central, and Western North) will be in progress at Takoradi.

5. From 25th May 2023 to 28th May 2023 – U13 Zone 4 (Oti, Volta, Eastern, Greater Accra) will be in progress at Kpando.

6. The National U13 Championship will come off from 12th June 2023 to 17th June 2023 at Kumasi.

7. Second Term vacation is slated to start from 29th June 2023 to 9th July 2023 for all Basic Schools in the country.

ACTIVITIES FOR 3rd TERM

1. The month of July has been slated for Special Games for SEND in selected special schools.

2. August 2023 has Workshops/Seminars for P.E Personnel (District Coordinators and Sports Secretaries) at Kumasi.

3. Also, in the same month of August 2023, Camping will be done in all the Regions.

4. Third Term vacation will start on 29th September 2023 in all the Basic Schools.

5. October to November 2023 will be used to celebrate Basic Festival in Greater Accra. That is during the vacation.
