2026 WASSCE Practical Fees Paid for All Candidates

The Government of Ghana has paid the 2026 WASSCE practical examination fees for all candidates participating in the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

The Ghana Education Service (GES), which disbursed the funds on behalf of the government, confirmed the payment in a press release. The statement, signed by Mr Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations for GES, disclosed that this initiative aims to relieve all final-year students in public Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS) across the country from this extra cost, allowing them to focus entirely on their examinations.

According to the GES, the released funds will cover the practical components for all candidates undertaking subjects with a practical assessment in the 2026 WASSCE.

The statement emphasised that the payment of the practical fees is a key part of the government’s efforts to remove financial barriers that could hinder students’ participation in their examinations. This move is expected to significantly ease the financial burden on parents and guardians.

“GES seeks to facilitate a smooth and well-coordinated examination process that enables students to focus on their academic work,” the statement noted.

Ensuring Accountability and Smooth Implementation

To ensure the funds are used appropriately, management and leadership at the senior secondary level have been tasked with judiciously applying the resources. The Service stressed that it will closely monitor the utilisation process to ensure full compliance and maintain high standards throughout the examination period.
