2023 School Selection: Category ‘A’ Boys Schools In The Ashanti Region

There are six category ‘A’ schools in the Ashanti region. Out of this number, three are all male(boys) schools. Let’s take a look at the profile of these schools..
1. Opoku Ware School
Opoku Ware School, often referred to as OWASS, is an all-boys high school in Santasi, a suburb of Kumasi, which is the capital of the Ashanti region of Ghana.
It was established in 1952, as one of the five Catholic schools in Ghana that year. The school was named after Asante King Opoku Ware I. It is also a category ‘A’ SHS in the region. It is one of the best senior High Schools in the country.
3. Kumasi High School
Kumasi High School often referred to as KUHIS, is a boys’ senior high school in the Ashanti region of Ghana. It was established in 1962, by S. K. Amoah. The students are known collectively as Mmerantee. It is located in Gyinyase near Ahinsan Estate. The motto of the school is Truth conquers. It falls part of the six category ‘A’ schools in the region.

4. Prempeh College
Prempeh College is a public secondary school for boys located in Kumasi, the capital city of the Ashanti Region, Ghana. The school is often referred as the best SHS in the Ashanti region.
The school is named after the King of Ashanti (Asantehene), Sir Osei Tutu Agyeman Prempeh II, who donated the land on which the school was built, and was modeled on Eton College in England.
The school uniform includes a green shirt with the college crest. Students wear this to class on a daily basis. For ceremonial purposes, students wear a green jacket with embroidery of the college crest. It has maintained it grade A title for a very long time.
