2023 School Selection Process Date – Message To All BECE Graduates
The 2023 school selection process will soon begin. In 2022, the school selection process started on 29th November and ended on 14th December. The new date for this year’s school selection process is out.
The 2023 BECE officially came to an end on Friday, 11th August, 2023. Nine papers were written in all. Now that candidates are done with their Basic Education Certificate Examination, school Selection process begins.
The 2023 school selection process is expected to start on 23rd August and end in September this year. This exercise usually takes place in all various Regional, District Education Directorates and Schools.
Before this school selection process begins, short videos and flyers are being shown to the media to reveal all the processes to follow. Also physical presence of officers are charged to educate stakeholders.
Parents and guidance are particularly advised to take a keen interest in the selection of school processes and be involved for a smooth placement this year.
Once the school selection is done, there would be an opportunity for candidates to text to a short code and confirm their school before actual placement will be done. Details of the short code will be made available in due course.
All senior high schools in Ghana are being grouped into the following categories, Categories A, B, C and D. Also all Technical and Vocational Education and Training institutions have been categorised into A, B and C, and added to SHS/ SHTS.

2023 BECE CUT OFF GRADE
There is a cut-off grade for each senior high school in Ghana. Each senior high school in the country falls within a category, namely; A, B, C and D. 2023 BECE candidates must get good grades in order to get admission into the best senior high schools in the country
The SHS placement is based on merits from the BECE aggregate and the best choices made after following the CSSPS guidelines.
The CSSPS is done based on six subjects namely; English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, Social Studies, and two additional best-performed subjects of a candidate.
Although there is no specific aggregate for school placement, the Ghana Education Service (GES) has over the year stated that candidates who had aggregate 9 in the English Language, or Mathematics will not qualify for placement.
