2023 SHS Placement: What To Do If You Are Not Placed In Any School

This article provides clear procedures for 2022 graduates who may not be placed in any of the five schools they selected. Using the previous years’ school placement as example, several BECE graduates were not placed in any of the senior high schools during placement, despite being qualified for SHS.

This is no error from the Ghana Education Service. The Ghana Education Service and the Ministry of Education have brought about what we call ‘Self Placement’ which allows student to select any school of their choice.

Worry no more because there is an easy way provided for you to do your placements in the comfort of your home. This new development is still a part of the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS).

This is done through the development of the Self-Placement Portal system, which allows candidates to have access to the placement system to choose schools that are still available for them.

The development is a laudable one as it gives graduates who just wrote the BECE in 2022 a second chance of going into senior high school since they could not be matched with the ones they chose.

How To Access The CSSPS Self Placement Platform When The Portal Is Opened.

Candidates are to obtain a placement pin code from an approved vendor. After getting the code, log on to the site at www.cssps.gov.gh. Enter the 10 digits index number and add 22 as your year of completion. Enter the pin code details (serial number and pin).
Click on submit and wait for the placement details to be displaced. If you are placed in your school, it will show, if not the system will redirect you to do self-placement. You may then continue the self-placement procedure.

CSSPS Self-Placement procedure

• You will need your index number for this process.
• Log on to the site with your index number.
• Choose your residential preference (day or boarding).
• If a candidate selects boarding. all schools with boarding vacancies will be displayed.
• If a candidate selects a day, another menu will appear for candidates to
  select:
  i.Day within catchment area Or
  ii. Day outside of catchment area
• Day within the catchment area displays only schools with Vacancies within 16km of the JHS the candidate attended.
• Day outside catchment area displays all schools with day vacancies.
• The last part is the programme choice. Candidates will have to choose their preferred programme.
• After going through this, candidates are required to print out the form and proceed to the school enrollment.
• Everything is put in place to ensure that all qualified graduates of BECE get schools to attend through the CSSPS and the self-placement system.
