The 2024 NSMQ year begins with balloting for schools at the regional level. In a post by the National Science & Maths Quiz sighted by Ghanaeducation.org, the NSMQ organizers, Primetime, disclosed that the regional balloting exercise will commence from May 20–29, 2024.
“The NSMQ year begins! The countdown to greatness starts now! Our regional balloting exercise will commence from May 20 – 29, 2024 across the country.” The statement indicated.
The #NSMQ2024 is expected to be a water-tight competition at the regional level as schools compete to earn an opportunity to wrestle against the 8-time champions, PRESEC-Legon who set a new back-to-back record after winning the 2022 and 2023 competitions

What are the dates for the 2024 NSMQ Regional Balloting Schedule?
There will be balloting for schools in Greater Accra, Bono, Bono East, and Ahofo on May 20, 2024.
Balloting for schools in Western, Western North, and Upper West will take place on May 22, 2024.
On May 24, 2024, voters in the Central and Upper East will cast ballots.
May 2024 will see balloting in the Eastern, Northern, North East, and Savanna regions.
On May 29, 2024, the Volta, Oti, and Shanti balloting for schools will take place.

At the time of filing this report, the National Science & Maths Quiz (NSMQ) had yet to officially announce the schools to be selected for the 2024 competition.
Regional champions expected to compete in the national event are Presec LEGON, Accra Academy, Adisadel College, St. James Seminary SHS, Tamale Islamic Science SHS, Anglican SHS, Kumasi, Pope John SHS & Minor Seminary, Mawuli School and Ghana Secondary Technical School
In a related development, the NSMQ celebrated one of its 2017 contestants, Jochebed, who emerged as the overall best student in Ghana and West Africa during WASSCE 2017. The former contestant has finished her medical school education and is now Dr. Jochebed Adwoa Sutherland.
Again, Haqq Abubakar Soolah, a member of the St. John’s School NSMQ 2023 team, received the Accra College of Medicine Scholarship worth $75,000 to study.
