2024 WASSCE Candidates To Pay GH¢465 As Registration Fee
The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the commencement of the WASSCE for School Candidates, 2024. According to WAEC, 2024 WASSCE candidates will pay a registration fee of GH¢465.
The 2024 WASSCE is scheduled to begin from Monday, 5th August to Friday, 27th September 2024.
The Council underscores that despite the Ghana-only version, the examination’s integrity remains intact. Question papers are meticulously compiled by experts across member countries, ensuring a comprehensive assessment. Following the exam, International Preliminary Coordination Meetings and deliberations by the International Awards Committee finalize marking schemes and grade boundaries, preserving its international recognition.
To facilitate transparency, the final timetable will be accessible to all schools and published on the WAEC website. Candidates are cautioned against downloading timetables from unofficial sources, emphasizing the importance of obtaining accurate information.
In a bid to uphold the integrity of school examinations, WAEC issued guidelines regarding eligibility and registration processes. The WASSCE for School Candidates and BECE for School Candidates are exclusively available to students in their final year of Senior and Junior High School, respectively.
2024 WASSCE Registration Violations
- Registering students lacking continuous assessment records or who aren’t bona fide students of the school.
- Enrolling students seeking grade improvement from previous WASSCE attempts, redirecting them to the WASSCE for Private Candidates.
- Advertising the examination, particularly by unaccredited “banner schools,” which exploit candidates for profit.

The registration process, meticulously outlined during nationwide briefing sessions, emphasizes accurate bio data entry and adherence to photograph guidelines. Once submitted, entries are irrevocable, stressing the importance of meticulousness during registration.
