2024 BECE for JHS 3 students: What it is likely to be like

The 2025 BECE for JHS 3 students will be the second BECE to be conducted based on the new curriculum.
This means WAEC will mentain the changes intorduced in 2024 regarding how the examination will conducted and the struture of the questions. This will cover how the examination is conducted, the number of subjects, and the way questions are set for candidates.
In addition to the above, the number of subjects written by the candidates increased to 10 in 2024.
Due to the changes to be effected, the Ghana Education Service issued a directive that all JHS2 students should be promoted to JHS3 in 2024. This directive was given prior to the promotion of JHS2 students to JHS3 in 2023.
The main reason given was that repeating such students would not be in their interest since they were the last batch of candidates educated under the old curriculum. This year no such directive will be issued.
The New Standards-Based Curriculum (2019) was the basis for all the changes that were effected to make the 2024 BECE different from those written from 1990 to 2023. The new changes will be applied to the 2025 BECE as well.
In 2024, the Ghana Education Service (GES). The Ministry of Education (MoE) and the West African Examination Council (WAEC) revealed the modality for the conduct of the 2024 BECE for final Junior High School students so late in April. However in 2025, the sample questions released by WAEC in 2024 and the 2024 BECE questions will serve as a guide for preperation.
What subjects are likely to be written during the 2025 BECE?
2025 BECE for JHS 3 students/ candidates will cover 10 subjects, thus one more than their predecessors however, they will be writing two new subjects.
