BECE 2025 BECE Results Release Date
Where the West African Examination Council (WAEC) does not have issues with financing the post-BECE processes such as marking and releasing the results, the results are released within 45 to 60 days after the examination is written. In 2024 for instance, the indebtedness of the government to WAEC resulted from the government’s failure to pay WAEC for BECE and WASSCE exam fees for public school candidates, leading to the overdelay of result release.
However, with a new proactive government in power led by John Dramani Mahama, it is hoped that there will not be financial challenges. In such an instance, WAEC would most likely release the 2025 BECE results between 45 and 60 days after the day the last paper was written.
What is the BECE 2025 Results Release Date?
Now if WAEC is to release the 2025 BECE results within 45 days, then 45 days after June 18, 2025 falls on August 2, 2025 however, if the results will be released within 60 days, then 60 days after June 18, 2025 falls on August 17, 2025. What is the BECE Marking Process & Grading System Explained by WAEC
WAEC takes the scripts of candidates through the rigorous marking process which ensures all scripts are marked fairly, irrespective of whether a candidate sat the exam in a public or private school.
The marking of BECE papers goes through the following processes.
Step 1: A single marking scheme is developed for each subject administered. This scheme is arrived at during the national coordination meetings. WAEC’s Chief Examiners and Zonal Team Leaders play acritical role in arriving at the scheme.
Step 2: The schemes are used to mark dummy answer sheets/scripts to ensure that there is consistency. Where challenges exist, they are resolved at preliminary and zonal meetings.
Step 3: WAEC examiners now meet at their respective regional WAEC marking centres. Here, the schemes approved are used to mark all actual scripts of candidates. They ensure that they use the final vetted schemes to mark scripts and award marks fairly based on the responses provided by the candidates. It is important to note that the scripts from one region are moved to another region for marking purposes to prevent bias of every form.
Step 4: When the marking is completed, the raw scores of all candidates for each subject are entered into a database and converted using the stanine grades, which rank the performance of candidates from Grade 1 to Grade 9, where 1 is the best grade and 9 the worst grade.
Step 5: WAEC holds meetings once results processing commences. It discusses relevant happenings during the exam and takes final decisions on results, cancellation of results, etc.
Step 6: The final results, once approved, are uploaded onto WAEC’s result portal for candidates and parents to access publicly but not without a press release which informs the public about the outcome of the results.

The 2025 BECE results of Jame Mensah
Jame Mensah
Subject | Grade | Raw Score Description |
---|---|---|

Creative Arts and Design | 2 | 81 |
Aggregate (Best 6 Subjects – Core + Best other 2) | 9 | |
Overall Raw Score Description | — | Between Average and High Average |
Notes:
-
From the above, James Mensah scored an aggregate of 9, which is calculated from the four (4) core subjects and two other best grades (RME and Career Technology): 1 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 9.
-
Raw Score Description for the overall performance is inferred based on the mix of 4 cores plus two (2) other subjects with the highest raw scores.
From the results above, the total raw score is the sum of raw scores from Core subjects plus RME and Career Technology. Thus, 91+83+85+92+94-84 = 529. James Mensah’s Total Raw Score is 529.
