2026 BECE Candidates in Danger as WAEC Withholds 2024 & 2025 Examiners’ Reports

2026 Critical Thinking WASSCE Exam . WAEC 2024 AND 2025 BECE chief examiners reports

With the 2026 BECE exams weeks away, candidates and teachers are left without essential guidance. WAEC has released 2024 and 2025 WASSCE reports, but has withheld the critical 2024 and 2025 BECE chief examiners’ reports for the new curriculum for two years.

The West African Examination Council (WAEC) has failed to release the BECE 2024-2025 chief examiners’ reports since the two examinations were conducted. The BECE in 2024 and 2025 were the first two examinations based on the new Common Core Curriculum. This means that technically, old reports on WAEC’s portal will not be very relevant to schools, candidates, and other stakeholders.

With the 2026 BECE scheduled to start from 4th May and end on 11th May, 2026, there is not a single relevant chief examiner’s report for stakeholders.

Our checks from the WAEC chief examiners’ portal at waecgh.org/chief-examiners-report provided worrying evidence that WAEC has still not officially uploaded even the report for the 2024 BECE.

The third batch of BECE candidates will be examined using the new Common Core Curriculum released by NaCCA in 2019/2020, yet there is no single official WAEC report on the new BECE to guide teachers, candidates, schools, and other stakeholders on how to prepare candidates to be ready while helping them avoid errors and weaknesses that WAEC often mentions in such reports.

The interesting twist in this matter is that while the 2024 BECE was administered by WAEC before the WASSCE 2024 and 2025, and the 2025 BECE was administered before the 2025 WASSCE, both the 2024 and 2025 WASSCE examiners’ reports have been released.

We can confirm with data from the WAEC examiners’ report page that WAEC has uploaded the 2024 and 2025 WASSCE reports while neglecting its responsibility to upload the final reports for the 2024 and 2025 reports.

If schools, teachers, and candidates were to have access to the official 2024 BECE report on the WAEC portal now, it would offer them a rare understanding of the general subject-based performance of candidates.

WAEC has failed all stakeholders by not providing at least the 2024 BECE reports to stakeholders on its examiners’ report portal. Policy think tanks such as Africa Education Watch must join in the crusade to press on WAEC to release these reports. The Ghana Education News editorial team calls on Africa

Education Watch boss Kofi Asare to add his voice to this call to ensure WAEC does not keep candidates, teachers, schools, and other stakeholders in the dark by not releasing the two reports.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) and the Ghana Education Service (GES) have also failed junior high schools, teachers, parents, and candidates for being quiet and unconcerned about WAEC’s failure to provide an examiner’s report on both examinations.

WAEC must release the BECE 2024-2025 chief examiners’ reports and offer clarifications or explanations as to why it has not done so for the past two years since the 2024 examination.
