2026 School Selection Date and Training Starts 29th July – GES
The Ghana Education Service (GES) will roll out the 2026 School Selection and Placement Training for Regional, Metro, Municipal, and District Directors of Education. The training has been rescheduled to take place from Wednesday, 29th July to Friday, 7th August, 2026.
According to the GES, the school selection process, which was originally scheduled for 20th July, will now start on 29th July. Per the letter from the GES sighted by Ghanaeducation.org, the submission date for the school selection forms is no later than 7th August, 2026.
“BECE candidates will begin school selection on Wednesday, 29th July, 2026. Candidates are to select their schools and confirm their choices after the release of the BECE results. The deadline for submitting the selection forms is Friday, 7th August, 2026.”
This means that schools, parents, and candidates will have a limited time for the school selection period, as they have 10 days within which to complete the process and for the respective schools to submit the hard and soft copies of the school selection files for processing.
“This is to inform you that the above-mentioned programme, as communicated to you in a letter referenced GES/S&ID/MSCI/2026/106 and dated 6th July, 2026, has been rescheduled to Wednesday, 29th July to Friday, 7th August, 2026,” the letter stated.
The training will take place in the respective regional offices of the Service across all 16 regions.

The 2026 School Selection and Placement Training aims to offer participants a deeper understanding of the new school selection guidelines. The knowledge acquired by these officers will empower them to provide effective oversight throughout the exercise.
“This training and sensitization exercise is intended to provide deeper insight into the selection guidelines and enable you to offer effective oversight throughout the exercise.”

At the time of filing this report, the BECE results for 2026 candidates were yet to be released. They are expected to be released no later than 31st July; however, the most likely dates for the release of the results are 28th and 29th July. Students, parents, and schools should keep an eye out for the release of the BECE results on our portals.
